Cultivating Excellence in the Heart of Africa
We are a dedicated team of agronomists, quality specialists, and logistics experts united by a single goal: to share Rwanda's finest coffee with the world.
From a local exporter to a trusted partner for specialty buyers worldwide.
From Local Hills to Global Roasters
In 2009, RTC was founded from the remnants of a defunct coffee factory in Kigali and has since grown into Rwanda's largest coffee exporter. Guided by a mission to secure economic freedom for smallholder farmers, and redefine the country's specialty coffee supply chain, we have built a strong reputation for our focused approach to quality, community, and sustainability. Our story began when we recognized coffee farmers’ low incomes were largely tied to poor farm productivity, limited knowledge of quality processing, and restricted market access. We understood that while the terroir was perfectly suited for growing exceptional bourbon arabica coffee, active investment was needed at every step of the coffee supply chain to facilitate sustainable and increased production. Through our owned and partner wet mills across Rwanda, we have developed resilient and transparent processes that provide a direct link from farm to cup. This vertical integration allows us to maintain sustainable practices, quality control, and traceability systems that ultimately ensure the fair value of the coffee exported is returned to the farmers. Our robust Agronomy Training Programs (ATP) has trained over 52,000 smallholder farmers in best agricultural practices, financial literacy, and climate-resilient farming. Our commitment to sustainably rejuvenate the supply chain has also led us to distribute over six million coffee seedlings at no cost to farmers over the past five years. Despite our growth, our mission remains unchanged, and we continue to develop innovative solutions to support the coffee farmers throughout Rwanda. We hope you will join us in this endeavor!
